Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account or password?
No. There is no account, no sign0up, and no login. The app opens straight to your diary.
Why doesn't Bloom suggest target numbers for me?
By design. Blood sugar targets in pregnancy are individual and should come from your own healthcare provider. Bloom records; your doctor interprets.
Why don't my readings show whether they're in target?
Bloom doesn't come with built-in target numbers — your targets come from your own doctor, not from an app. Until you enter them, readings display neutrally with no green/red indicators. To turn them on: go to **Settings → My Doctor's Targets** and enter the fasting and post-meal targets your doctor gave you. Once saved, your dashboard, history, charts, and in-range celebrations all use those numbers.
Where is my data stored?
Everything you enter — readings, blood pressure, meals, settings — is stored only on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server, and we cannot see your data.
Is my data private?
Yes, in the strongest way possible: it never leaves your phone. There's no cloud, no account, and nothing for anyone else to access.
How do I back up my data?
Go to **Settings → Export My Data** to download a complete backup file. We recommend exporting regularly — because your data lives only on your device, that file is your safety net.
What happens if I lose my phone or get a new one?
Your data does not transfer automatically, because it isn't stored in the cloud. Restore from your most recent export file, or from your phone's own device backup. This is another reason to export regularly.
How do I delete my data?
Swipe-level: tap the trash icon next to any reading or meal to remove it. Everything: **Settings → Erase All Data** permanently deletes everything from your device. There's no account to close, because there's no account.
How do I log a reading from yesterday (or another day)?
Every entry form — blood sugar, blood pressure, and food — has a date field. It defaults to today, and you can set any past date. Future dates aren't allowed; it's a diary, not a horoscope.
I entered the wrong number. Now what?
You can delete your readings under the history tab. Then just go back and re-enter the correct data!
Where do I write down what I ate?
Use the Food entry — available right on the Dashboard under the blood sugar form, and on the Food tab. Your meals appear alongside your readings in History, in meal order, so you can see how food and readings line up across the day.
Why doesn't the food diary count calories or carbs?
By design. Bloom's food log is a simple written record to review with your care team — not a nutrition calculator. Write what you ate in your own words.
Why doesn't the app label my blood pressure readings as "normal" or "high"?
By design. Bloom records your numbers without interpreting them. What matters in pregnancy is what *your* provider says about *your* readings — bring your log to your visits, and contact your provider promptly about any reading that concerns you.
Will Bloom warn me if a reading is dangerous?
No — and please don't rely on any app for that. Bloom is a diary. If a reading worries you, or you feel unwell, contact your healthcare provider right away.
How do I show my readings to my doctor?
Two easy options: open the History tab at your appointment — it's organized by day, with readings and meals together — or use **Settings → Export My Data** to download your complete log as a file you can share.
Is Bloom a medical device?
No. Bloom is a personal tracking diary. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations, and it is not a substitute for care from your healthcare provider.
Who is Bloom for?
Anyone monitoring blood sugar or blood pressure during pregnancy — commonly people managing gestational diabetes who check readings around meals — and who wants a simple, private place to keep their log.
